Southern Current's commercial solar division focuses on providing services to commercial, industrial, agricultural, non-profit and municipal businesses in both regulated and unregulated energy markets.  

Problem

Southern Current is a No standardize project management and task tracking process (300 projects and over 2000 data points per project).  No visibility into project data across business units from development to engineering to operations. No ability to run portfolio level or cross-project analysis. Limited or cumbersome reporting capabilities due to the current data structures.

Solution

Smartsheet was used to build a complex but easy to implement and use framework for project management and reporting that allowed for all business units to create, view, update, and report on project data in real time. Key features of the framework included:

• Easy project creation and data migration
• Project task tracking architecture that integrated data from 300 projects
• Data transformation from sheet-per-project to project-per-row on a single sheet which allowed for data aggregation and reporting across projects
• Reporting capabilities including a user friendly report builder that allowed for complex reports to be built from a very large number of data points
• Extensibility and flexibility through simple global change management across project sheets, and ability to extend the framework

Problem 

The IT dept at a Georgia State University was looking for a more efficient solution for gaining visibility into project status, timelines, and resource utilization. 

Solution 

We worked with the Director of IT Operations and other project managers to better understand what information was available in their current project tacking system, what their current state reporting looked like and designed a future states solution that utilized Smartsheet and Data Uploader to automate manual tasks, extract new data insights, and created reports, project timelines (including Gantt charts) and a PMO dashboard that provided visibility and transparency to the work of IT to their project managers and leadership.

Problem 

Alder Energy needed to kick-start their Smartsheet implementation for use as a the standard company project management and workflow platform.  

Solution We worked closely with their PM team to identify their needs and requirements, build starter templates, reports, and dashboards, and trained their team on Smartsheet how to and best practices.
